Marine turtle research, management and conservation in Indonesia

The status of six species of marine turtles in Indonesia is reported: Chelonia mydas, Eretmochelys imbricata, Lepidochelys olivacea, Dermochelys coriacea, Caretta caretta, Natator depresus. The government of Indonesia has declared all of this six species as endangered and protected animals. Among the various research activities that have been undertaken were the turtle tagging programs, head starting program, nest monitoring program, turtle satellite tracking and mt-DAN analyses of the hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata).
