Report of the Third Core Expert Meeting on Fisheries Management Strategies for Pelagic Fish Resources in the Southeast Asian Region
Abstract
The Third Core Expert Meeting on Fisheries Management Strategies for Pelagic Fish Resources in the Southeast Asian Region was organized by SEAFDEC/MFRDMD via Google Meet webinar on 20 August 2024. The meeting was attended by the representatives from Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam; as well as resource persons from Japan and Malaysia; the representatives from SEAFDEC Secretariat and SEAFDEC/TD; the Chief, Deputy Chief, and Officials from SEAFDEC/MFRDMD.
Description
The objectives of the meeting, which are i) To share information and analysis results for the selected pelagic species, and ii) To find the way forward for future planning. Mr. Abd Haris Hilmi also noted that the JTF VI Phase 2 project is approaching its completion, emphasizing that the analysis and discussions during the meeting will be pivotal in shaping the sustainable future of pelagic fisheries in the region. He extended his gratitude to the Japan Trust Fund (JTF) for supporting this project and the Deputy Chief of SEAFDEC/MFRDMD for his efforts in preparation for this meeting.
